Bulgaria needs significantly more foreign investment for economic growth

The Bulgarian economy is facing a serious challenge related to attracting capital from abroad. According to experts, our country needs a much larger volume of foreign investment to achieve stable and sustainable economic growth in the long term.

Nikola Yankov, managing partner at the company Expat Capital, points out that current investment levels are extremely insufficient. According to his data, Bulgaria needs about 40 billion euros annually to accelerate its development, while actual inflows are currently under 400 million euros.

This large gap between the necessary and the actual funds shows that the country must improve its business environment. Attracting investors requires predictability, fewer administrative hurdles, and a stable legal framework that would make Bulgaria a more attractive destination for large international companies.

The lack of sufficient foreign capital limits the opportunities for modernizing production and creating new, high-paying jobs. This, in turn, slows down the pace at which the Bulgarian economy can approach the average development levels in the European Union.

In conclusion, the issue of the investment climate remains key to the country's future. Experts are adamant that without targeted efforts to attract significant financial resources, Bulgaria will struggle to realize its full economic potential in the coming years.
