Interior Minister calls for swift justice in the case of the police officers who died in Burgas

Caretaker Minister of Interior Ivan Demerdzhiev has issued an official appeal to the judicial system for a faster conclusion to the case related to the tragic death of two police officers in Burgas. The incident, which shook the entire country, occurred during an attempt to stop a bus carrying illegal migrants.

More than a year ago, a patrol car was struck by the vehicle, which was driven by a Syrian national. As a result of the severe collision, the two law enforcement officers lost their lives at the scene. The case sparked a wide public debate regarding border security and measures against human trafficking.

Minister Demerdzhiev emphasized that the delay in the judicial process is painful for the families of the deceased and for society as a whole. According to him, justice must be served within a reasonable timeframe to demonstrate that the law is equal for everyone and that attacks against Ministry of Interior employees will not go unpunished.

Currently, the case continues to be a subject of intense interest from the media and the public. The court is expected to examine all gathered evidence and deliver a verdict that corresponds to the gravity of the committed crime.

The issue of the safety of police officers guarding the state border remains a priority for the institutions. The progress of the trial is expected to provide answers to many questions related to the organization of work and the protection of officers in critical situations.
