North Macedonia seeks dialogue with Bulgaria to find a common solution
The Prime Minister of North Macedonia, Hristijan Mickoski, stated that his country is ready to continue a constructive dialogue with Bulgaria. The goal of these talks is to reach a mutually acceptable solution on the open issues between the two neighboring countries.
In a statement to the media, Mickoski emphasized the importance of good neighborly relations. According to him, maintaining constant contact is key to stability in the region and to Skopje's European integration.
Beyond the topic of relations with Bulgaria, the Prime Minister also commented on domestic political issues in his country. He responded to opposition criticism regarding the state of public finances, drawing attention to the size of North Macedonia's public debt.
The question of relations between Sofia and Skopje remains an important topic in the Bulgarian public sphere. The Bulgarian authorities have repeatedly stated that they expect compliance with international commitments and the protection of the rights of citizens with Bulgarian self-awareness in North Macedonia.
It remains to be seen what the next steps in the negotiations between the two governments will be. Diplomatic efforts are expected to continue in search of long-term progress on the disputed issues.
