New rules for gambling advertising are being prepared in Bulgaria
The political entity "Progressive Bulgaria" has announced its plans to draft a new concept aimed at restricting gambling advertising in the country. The initiative comes following frequent public debates regarding the influence of gambling on young people and the growing number of citizens addicted to betting.
The main goal of the proposed changes is to introduce stricter criteria for where and how gambling services can be advertised. According to the campaign organizers, the current situation allows for an overly aggressive presence of advertisements in the media and on social networks, which often reaches minors.
The proposal includes limiting television commercials during prime time, as well as a ban on using celebrities and influencers to promote gambling platforms. The new concept is expected to be discussed with experts from various sectors in order to find a balance between business interests and consumer protection.
The issue of gambling addiction remains a serious challenge for Bulgarian society. In recent years, the number of people seeking help to deal with betting has been increasing, which is forcing institutions to seek more effective regulatory mechanisms.
It remains to be seen whether the proposed measures will receive the necessary support in parliament. Specific legislative texts are expected to be presented in the coming weeks, which will initiate a serious debate on the topic in the National Assembly.
