Strong storm leaves parts of Southwestern Bulgaria without electricity
A powerful storm with torrential rain, hurricane-force winds, and frequent lightning struck Southwestern Bulgaria over the past 24 hours. The bad weather caused serious difficulties in the region, with the situation being most severe in Blagoevgrad and the surrounding settlements.
The strong wind knocked down numerous trees and branches in the urban area of Blagoevgrad, which led to traffic disruptions on the streets. Fire department teams and municipal services are working on-site to clear the fallen timber and ensure the safety of citizens.
As a result of the poor weather conditions, dozens of settlements in the region were left without power. Teams from the electricity distribution company are working to repair the grid failures, but restoring power is taking time due to the scale of the damage.
Fortunately, there is currently no information about any people injured during the storm. Local authorities are urging residents to be cautious and to avoid staying under trees or near utility poles until the situation fully normalizes.
Forecasters warn that the unstable weather in the country continues and advise people to monitor the latest weather warnings.
