New Correctional Health Centre to be Built in Dorchester
The Correctional Service of Canada has officially announced the selection of EllisDon to lead the design and construction of a new facility in Dorchester. The project will result in a modern, 155-bed Health Centre of Excellence designed to improve medical services within the federal correctional system.
This new centre aims to provide specialized healthcare to inmates, ensuring that the facility meets modern standards for medical treatment and safety. By centralizing these services, the Correctional Service of Canada hopes to improve the quality of care provided to individuals in custody.
EllisDon, a major Canadian construction company, was chosen for the project due to its experience in large-scale infrastructure developments. The company will be responsible for both the design phase and the physical construction of the building, which is expected to be a significant addition to the region's infrastructure.
While the project focuses on correctional health, it also represents a notable investment in the Dorchester area. The construction process is expected to create jobs and support the local economy throughout the building phase.
Construction is scheduled to begin following the completion of the final design plans. Once finished, the 155-bed facility will play a key role in the federal government's ongoing efforts to modernize health services for the correctional system across the country.
