Siemens Canada to Support New Lithium Project in Ontario
A new partnership in the Canadian energy sector is set to boost the country’s lithium production. Siemens Canada has announced it will develop a 'digital twin' for a new lithium converter facility planned by the company Rock Tech Lithium.
The proposed facility will be located in Red Rock, Ontario. A digital twin is a virtual model that uses data to simulate how a physical factory will operate. By using this advanced technology, Rock Tech aims to improve the efficiency and safety of the plant before construction is even finished.
Once the facility is fully operational, it is expected to have the capacity to produce up to 32,000 tonnes of lithium carbonate equivalent per year. This material is a vital component in the production of batteries for electric vehicles, which are becoming increasingly popular in Canada and around the world.
This project is part of a larger effort to strengthen Canada’s role in the global electric vehicle supply chain. By processing lithium locally, the company hopes to support the growing demand for sustainable energy solutions and contribute to the local economy in Northern Ontario.
As the transition to cleaner energy continues, projects like the Red Rock converter highlight the importance of combining industrial manufacturing with modern digital technology. The development remains a significant step forward for Ontario’s mining and technology sectors.
