New Faces Join Canadian Women’s Rugby Team for Opener Against Australia
Rugby Canada has officially announced the match day roster for the upcoming opening game against Australia. The team is preparing for a high-stakes competition, with several new athletes ready to make their mark on the international stage.
This roster features six players who have never played for the national team before. These "uncapped" athletes will join experienced teammates as they look to secure a victory in the Pacific Four Series. The inclusion of these new players highlights the growing depth of talent within the Canadian rugby program.
Among the experienced leaders returning to the squad are Florence Symonds and Olivia Apps. Both players have previously represented Canada in the 15s format and will provide essential guidance to the younger members of the team during this challenging match.
Following this series, many of these athletes will shift their focus to the global stage. The first leg of the 2026 SVNS World Championship is scheduled to begin next weekend in Hong Kong, marking a busy and important period for Canadian rugby.
Fans across the country are eager to see how this mix of veteran leadership and fresh energy performs on the field. The match against Australia serves as a critical test for the team as they continue their preparations for future international tournaments.
