Air Canada Reaches Tentative Deal with Maintenance Workers
Air Canada has announced that it reached a new tentative collective agreement with the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAMAW). This union represents thousands of the airline’s technical operations and maintenance staff across the country.
The agreement comes after a period of negotiations between the airline and the union representatives. Both sides worked to find a balance regarding wages, benefits, and working conditions for the employees who keep the airline’s fleet safe and operational.
While the details of the agreement have not been fully released to the public, the deal must still be voted on by the union members. If the members approve the contract, it will officially replace the previous agreement and provide long-term stability for the airline's maintenance operations.
This development is significant for Canadian travelers, as it helps prevent potential service disruptions. Maintenance workers play a vital role in ensuring that flights depart on time and remain safe for passengers throughout Canada and internationally.
Air Canada stated that it is pleased with the progress made during these discussions. The airline and the union are now waiting for the final ratification process to conclude, which will finalize the terms of the new contract.
