A moderate magnitude earthquake shakes Colombia this Monday night
A new seismic movement surprised the inhabitants of Colombia during the night of this Monday, May 25. The event was reported by local authorities, who constantly monitor seismic activity in the country to ensure the safety of the population.
The Colombian Geological Service (SGC) was in charge of providing technical details about the phenomenon. According to the official report, the earthquake occurred during the night hours, which generated an alert in several regions of the national territory where it was felt with greater intensity.
Although specific magnitude and depth data are updated on the official website, the SGC reported that the epicenter was located in a known activity zone. Colombia is a country with frequent seismic activity due to its geographical location, which makes these events common throughout the year.
Many citizens reported feeling the tremor through social media, especially those who were in tall buildings. So far, risk management authorities have not reported serious material damage or injured persons as a direct consequence of this movement.
Finally, experts recommend that the population remain calm and follow official sources to receive accurate information. It is essential to always have an emergency kit prepared and to know the evacuation routes in case of possible aftershocks or future natural events of this type.
