Antioquia Demands the Urgent Installation of a Bridge Over the San Juan River
The Government of Antioquia has made an urgent request to the National Government of Colombia. Regional authorities demand the immediate installation of a metallic bridge over the San Juan River, located in the municipality of San Juan de Urabá. This request arises due to the lack of a safe structure that allows the passage of people and vehicles in the area.
According to official reports, the situation is critical because the region's inhabitants are risking their lives to cross the river. Without a stable bridge, many people attempt to cross by improvised or dangerous means. The Government insists that the National Roads Institute (Invías) must act quickly to avoid a major tragedy and guarantee the safety of citizens.
The lack of this bridge affects not only safety but also the economy and mobility of the Urabá region. This area is key for the transport of agricultural products and the movement of local workers. The delay in the installation of the military structure—a type of temporary but resistant bridge—is causing significant logistical problems for nearby communities.
For now, the community awaits a positive and rapid response from the National Government. The installation of the military bridge is seen as a necessary short-term solution while a permanent work is planned. Antioquia authorities have made it clear that the priority must be to protect the lives of those who travel daily through this sector of the department.
