Grenade attack against police in Cauca leaves one officer injured
On the night of May 17, a new act of violence was recorded in the department of Cauca, in southwestern Colombia. A National Police patrol was attacked while performing surveillance duties in the town of El Bordo. The incident has caused great concern among the inhabitants of this area of the country.
According to official reports from the authorities, the attackers used two fragmentation grenades against the police vehicle. As a result of the powerful explosion, one officer was injured. Emergency units arrived quickly at the scene to assist those affected and secure the perimeter.
The injured policeman was immediately transferred to a nearby medical center to receive specialized medical treatment. In addition to the officer, other people who were in the vicinity at the time of the explosion also received medical attention to rule out serious injuries.
