The future of Czech industry: Are we facing a transformation, or will we remain an assembly plant?

The Czech Republic is facing a fundamental question regarding the direction its industrial production will take in the coming years. According to industry experts, European industry finds itself in a challenging situation, having to contend with high energy prices and strong competition from abroad. Many companies are therefore considering moving production outside of Europe, which raises concerns about the stability of the Czech economy.

For a long time, the Czech Republic has been considered a country with a very strong industrial base that is closely linked to the German market. However, industrialists point out that the model that worked in the past may no longer be sustainable. If Czech industry cannot adapt to new technologies and higher added value, it risks remaining nothing more than a cheap assembly plant for large foreign corporations.

Remaining an "assembly plant" may be safe in the short term, as it ensures employment for thousands of people. Experts agree, however, that this path is not advantageous in the long run. The country needs to invest in research, development, and automation to be able to compete with global players. Without these changes, the Czech economy will become increasingly dependent on the decisions of foreign owners.

The future of Czech industry thus depends on the ability of both companies and the state to innovate. If Czech businesses can be supported in their growth and transition to modern technologies, the Czech Republic has a chance to maintain its strong position in the heart of Europe. If, however, we sleep through innovation, it may happen that production gradually disappears from our region.
