European Union has sent the first billions of euros in aid to Ukraine

President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen officially announced that Ukraine has received the first part of financial aid from EU sources. The total sum that has now been sent amounts to 3.2 billion euros, which corresponds to more than 77 billion Czech crowns.

These funds are part of an extensive loan program designed to help the Ukrainian state stabilize its economy during the ongoing war conflict. With this step, the European Union confirms its long-term support for Kyiv, which includes not only military but also significant financial and humanitarian aid.

For the Czech Republic and other EU member states, this support is crucial because the stability of Ukraine directly affects the security situation in all of Europe. The Czech Republic has long been actively participating in aid to Ukraine, both at the level of state assistance and through support for Ukrainian refugees who have found shelter in the country.

Further tranches of financial aid will follow depending on the fulfillment of agreed conditions between the European Commission and the Ukrainian government. The European Union will continue to monitor how the provided funds are being handled to ensure their effective and transparent management.
