European Union launches campaign for healthier plants and a better environment
The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) has launched a new awareness campaign titled #PlantHealth4Life. The goal of this initiative is to raise public awareness about the importance of plant health for our daily lives and the stability of the entire ecosystem.
Healthy plants are the foundation of our food, clean air, and a functioning economy. The campaign emphasizes that each of us can contribute to protecting nature through our behavior. Experts warn that the spread of plant pests and diseases can have serious consequences for agriculture as well as for wild species in European countries, including the Czech Republic.
The project focuses primarily on travelers and gardeners, who may unknowingly transport dangerous organisms across borders. The authority therefore recommends that people avoid bringing plants, fruits, or seeds when traveling abroad, as these could contain hidden threats to local flora.
The #PlantHealth4Life campaign will take place in many EU member states and offers practical advice on how to protect our forests, fields, and gardens. Information about the initiative is available online and is intended to help people better understand that caring for plants is a shared responsibility for us all.
