Poland is building highways at a record pace: The Czech Republic is lagging behind
Poland plans to open more than 290 kilometers of new highways and expressways this year. Our neighboring country is thus striving to significantly improve its transport infrastructure and connect key regions. The Polish government is investing record financial resources into this extensive project.
According to experts, the pace of construction in Poland is significantly faster than in the Czech Republic. While Polish authorities are able to plan and implement new sections very efficiently, the Czech side often struggles with a slow approval process and bureaucracy. The difference in construction speed is therefore becoming increasingly apparent to both Czech drivers and experts.
Improving the Polish transport network may also have an impact on international transport within Central Europe. Faster connections between Polish cities and the borders can simplify travel and the transport of goods between Poland and the Czech Republic. For Czech motorists, this means that they will be able to use more modern and safer roads when traveling to the north.
While Poland is celebrating success in building its highway network, the debate on how to accelerate the construction of new roads continues in the Czech Republic. The experience from the neighboring state can serve as inspiration for Czech authorities, who are looking for ways to make the process of planning and building highways more efficient in the future.
