President of the Czech Republic Petr Pavel addressed the UN General Assembly in New York. In his speech, he presented Czech priorities on the international stage and emphasized the active role that the Czech Republic wants to play in the future in addressing global issues.
One of the main topics of the President's speech was the Czech Republic's candidacy for the UN Security Council for the 2032–2033 term. According to Pavel, it is important for Central European countries to participate more in decision-making regarding world security and to contribute to maintaining peace and stability.
In addition to political issues, the President also focused on technological progress. He called on world leaders to work together to create clear rules for the use of artificial intelligence. According to him, it is necessary to ensure that this technology serves humanity and is not misused to spread disinformation or threaten human rights.
President Pavel also recalled the need for international cooperation in the fight against climate change and cyberattacks. He emphasized that no state today can face modern threats alone, and therefore mutual trust between democratic countries is key.
The President's trip to New York confirms the Czech Republic's effort to strengthen its position in international organizations. Participation in the UN session is an opportunity for Czech diplomacy to promote national interests while actively engaging in solving the global challenges of the present.
