MEDEVAC Program: Thirty years of Czech humanitarian aid in the world
For more than three decades, the Czech Republic has been operating an important humanitarian project called MEDEVAC. This program focuses on providing specialized medical care to people who find themselves in difficult life situations and do not have access to standard healthcare in their home countries.
The MEDEVAC program has been operating continuously since 1993. During this time, it has become one of the pillars of Czech foreign aid. Its main goal is to help vulnerable groups of the population, especially children and people from areas affected by armed conflicts or natural disasters.
The work within the program is carried out in two ways. The first is sending Czech medical teams directly abroad, where experts perform complex surgeries and train local staff. The second option is the transfer of patients to Czech hospitals if their medical condition requires care that cannot be provided in their place of residence.
The Ministry of the Interior, which oversees the program, emphasizes that MEDEVAC is not just about one-off assistance, but about long-term support for healthcare in crisis regions. Thanks to the Czech program, thousands of lives have been saved and the quality of life for many people around the world has been improved.
Even after thirty years of existence, MEDEVAC remains an important symbol of Czech solidarity. The program continues its activities and responds to current needs in places where the help of the international community is most needed.
