Czech Republic receives first funds from European defense fund
The Czech Republic received its first financial resources today from a new European fund called SAFE (Security Action for Europe). This European initiative aims to support member states in strengthening their defense capabilities and security in the current challenging international situation.
The billions of koruna obtained will be used in the Czech Republic primarily for the purchase of modern military equipment. Investments in the army have been a priority for the Czech government in recent years, as it seeks to modernize equipment and ensure better preparedness of the armed forces for potential threats.
The SAFE program was created by the European Union in response to the need to modernize member states' armies more quickly. The fund allows countries to recoup a portion of the costs they have incurred for the acquisition of new equipment, or conversely, to obtain funds for purchases they are still planning.
For the Czech Republic, this payment represents important assistance in meeting its commitments to NATO and in increasing the country's overall security. The Ministry of Defense will now work on the effective use of these funds in accordance with the long-term development plans of the Czech Army.
