European Union sends first part of multi-billion loan to Ukraine
President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen announced that Ukraine has received the first funds from a new EU loan. The total amount that has now been sent is 3.2 billion euros, which corresponds to more than 77 billion Czech crowns.
This money is part of the broader aid that the European Union is providing to Ukraine during the ongoing war conflict. The goal of this financial support is to help the Ukrainian government maintain the operation of the state, ensure basic services for residents, and stabilize the country's economy, which has been severely affected by the war.
The European Union has long been striving for coordinated aid, in which all member states, including the Czech Republic, are participating. This financial injection is intended to ensure that Ukrainian institutions can continue to function even in the challenging conditions the country is currently facing.
Further parts of the financial aid will follow depending on the fulfillment of agreed-upon conditions between Kyiv and Brussels. The European Commission will continue to monitor how these funds are being used to ensure their effectiveness and transparency.
