President Pavel to support Czech Republic's candidacy for the UN Security Council
President of the Czech Republic Petr Pavel is attending the United Nations (UN) General Assembly in New York. The main goal of his trip is to strengthen the Czech Republic's position on the international stage and establish important diplomatic partnerships.
During his stay, the President intends to officially support the Czech Republic's candidacy for a non-permanent seat on the UN Security Council. Our country plans to run for this significant seat for the 2032–2033 term.
The Security Council is one of the most important UN bodies, holding primary responsibility for the maintenance of international peace and security. Membership in this council would mean great diplomatic prestige for the Czech Republic and the opportunity to directly influence the resolution of global conflicts.
President Pavel believes that the Czech Republic's active involvement in international structures is key to ensuring the country's security and prosperity. Supporting the candidacy is thus another step in the state's long-term foreign policy, which emphasizes cooperation within democratic countries.
UN member states will decide on the final composition of the Security Council for the given period in future elections. The success of the Czech candidacy will depend on the support of other states and on how strong a position the Czech Republic maintains in the international community in the coming years.
