Czech Republic receives billions from European fund to strengthen defense
The Czech Republic has received its first financial resources from the European fund known as SAFE. The total amount that has already arrived in the state budget is 7.6 billion CZK. These funds are intended to support the Czech army and strengthen the country's defense capabilities in the current security situation.
The SAFE (Strategic Technologies for Europe Platform) fund was created as the European Union's response to the need to increase investment in strategic technologies and the defense industry. The Czech government requested these funds as part of a broader strategy for the modernization of the armed forces. The acquired finances will help cover the costs of purchasing new technology and equipment, which is crucial for ensuring the security of the state.
The Ministry of Defense plans to use these funds primarily for projects that were previously financed from national sources. Thanks to European support, space will be freed up in the budget for other important investments. The money will be directed, for example, toward the modernization of ground forces and the improvement of the army's logistical facilities.
Securing this grant is considered a success for Czech diplomacy and negotiations within European institutions. The Czech Republic thus becomes one of the first states to effectively draw these funds. In the future, further calls are expected in which the Czech Republic will be able to participate in order to further strengthen its role within the collective defense of NATO and the European Union.
