Czech team CZERT: Preparedness for crisis situations abroad and at home
University Hospital Brno has presented the activities of a special team called the Czech Emergency Response Team, or CZERT for short. This team is part of the Czech humanitarian aid effort and is designed for rapid deployment to areas affected by disasters or humanitarian crises. Its main task is to provide professional medical care where the local healthcare system has ceased to function.
The CZERT EMT 1 team is highly specialized and features experts from many medical fields. Among its ranks are surgeons and traumatologists who focus on treating injuries, as well as doctors from the field of internal medicine. The team is prepared to address specific health needs, which is why it also includes gynecologists, obstetricians, and pediatricians for the care of children.
In addition to basic medical care, the team focuses on intensive care medicine, which is crucial for saving lives in critical conditions. Team members are trained to work in demanding field conditions, both during international missions and, if necessary, within the territory of the Czech Republic. Their equipment and expertise meet the standards of the World Health Organization.
The existence of such a team increases the Czech Republic's preparedness for unexpected events. Thanks to the connection of experts from University Hospital Brno and other institutions, CZERT is able to react effectively to crisis situations and provide help to people who find themselves in life-threatening situations.
