The Czech Republic has a special medical team for crisis situations
The Czech Republic is strengthening its capacity to respond to emergencies and disasters. Brno University Hospital has become the base for a special unit called the Czech Emergency Response Team (CZERT). This team is prepared to deploy quickly to areas hit by, for example, an earthquake or another natural disaster.
The CZERT team has obtained the EMT 1 classification, which means it is a mobile medical unit for primary care. Team members are able to work in field conditions and provide assistance where local hospitals are not functioning. The project is the result of long-term preparation and cooperation between Czech experts and international organizations.
The composition of the team is very diverse to ensure it can cover a wide range of health issues. The unit includes specialists in surgery, traumatology, and internal medicine. Experts in gynecology, obstetrics, and pediatrics are also an important part of the team, ensuring care for women and children even in the most difficult situations.
In addition to general medicine, the team also focuses on intensive care. This is crucial for patients in serious condition who need immediate stabilization before being transported to a larger hospital. All team members undergo regular training to handle stress and the demanding work environment both abroad and at home.
The existence of such a team increases the prestige of the Czech Republic on the international stage. It shows that the Czech healthcare system is modern and capable of helping not only its own citizens but also people in need around the world. CZERT is a symbol of solidarity and the high standard of Czech medicine.
