Vote counting in regional and Senate elections has begun: The first results are here
The counting of votes in the regional and Senate elections is underway in the Czech Republic today. Polling stations have closed, and election commissions have begun counting the ballots cast by citizens over the past two days. The results will be gradually published on the official website of the Czech Statistical Office.
According to the first partial data coming in from electoral districts, support for individual political groups is beginning to take shape in some regions. The "Our Czechia" movement has had a strong start at the beginning of the count and is taking the lead in some areas. However, it is necessary to emphasize that these are very preliminary results from smaller districts.
The vote counting process takes several hours. First, votes for regional assemblies are counted, and then attention shifts to the Senate elections. In Senate districts where no candidate receives an absolute majority of votes, a second round of elections will be held in a week.
Experts point out that the overall picture of the election may change significantly as more data from large cities arrives. According to commissioners' estimates, voter turnout was stable in many regions, which suggests that citizens are interested in the administration of their region.
Definitive election results will be known during the night. Once one hundred percent of the districts have been counted, it will be clear which political groups will influence the development of individual Czech regions over the next four years and who will take a seat in the upper house of the Parliament of the Czech Republic.
