Czechia outside new anti-missile coalition: Experts speak of a missed opportunity
The Czech Republic has not yet joined a new European coalition focused on joint anti-missile defense. A total of nine European countries have joined this initiative, which aims to strengthen the security of airspace. The absence of Czechia from this project has sparked a wave of criticism among security policy experts.
According to security experts, the decision to remain outside this coalition is a missed opportunity. Experts emphasize that in matters of defense, it is always more advantageous to be at the negotiating table and participate in joint decisions than to stand on the sidelines. Cooperation within Europe is considered key in the current security situation.
The anti-missile defense project aims to better protect European states from potential threats from the air. Member countries that have joined the coalition plan to share technologies and experience, and to invest jointly in modern defense systems. Participation in such a group would allow Czechia not only better access to information but also the strengthening of its own defense capabilities.
It is not yet clear whether the Czech government will join the initiative in the future. The Ministry of Defense has not yet officially commented on why the country did not join the first wave of the project. However, discussions about the direction in which Czech defense strategy will evolve continue in political circles.
