European Union sends Ukraine first billions of euros from new loan
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced that Ukraine has received the first portion of financial aid from the EU loan. The total amount that has now been sent to Kyiv is 3.2 billion euros, which corresponds to more than 77 billion Czech crowns.
These funds are part of a broader European Union plan to support the Ukrainian economy, which has been struggling with the consequences of the war conflict for a long time. The financial resources are intended to help ensure the basic functioning of the state, such as the payment of pensions, teachers' salaries, or the operation of hospitals.
The Czech Republic, as an active member of the European Union, has long supported these steps. It is important for Czech citizens to know that the stability of Ukraine directly affects the security and economic situation in all of Central Europe, including our own territory.
Further amounts from the total aid package will be released gradually depending on the fulfillment of agreed conditions. The European Commission will continue to monitor how the provided funds are being handled to ensure their efficiency and transparency.
