Czech Republic to assume presidency of the OECD Council next year
The Czech Republic will take on a significant international role next year. The country will preside over the Council of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). This decision confirms the Czech Republic’s active involvement in global economic affairs and its efforts to strengthen cooperation among the world's developed nations.
The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development brings together 38 democratic countries that share common values and strive for sustainable economic growth. The Czech Republic has been a member of this organization since 1995, and during its presidency, it will have the opportunity to influence key topics such as innovation, digitalization, and the support of entrepreneurship.
The role of the OECD Council Chair is not merely symbolic. Throughout the year, the Czech Republic will organize important meetings and set the priorities that the organization will address. For the Czech Republic, this is an opportunity to showcase its experience in economic transformation and to share best practices with other member states.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that preparations for this period have already begun. The goal of the Czech presidency is, among other things, to strengthen the resilience of economies against future crises and to support the green transformation of industry. Experts expect that this role will increase the prestige of the Czech Republic on the international stage.
Overall, it can be said that the OECD presidency represents a prestigious task for the Czech Republic. Next year, our country will thus play a key role in finding solutions to the global economic challenges that the current world faces.
