Police close case of MEP Filip Turek's accident
The Police of the Czech Republic have concluded the investigation into a traffic accident involving Member of the European Parliament Filip Turek (Motorists). The case concerned an event that took place in the past and had been the subject of public and legal debate. The police have now reached a conclusion on how the entire matter will be handled moving forward.
Filip Turek responded to the police decision with a statement in which he emphasized that he is prepared to continue exercising his mandate. He stated that he wants to continue working for the Czech Republic and its citizens in accordance with the trust he received from voters in last year's European Parliament elections.
During his time in politics, the MEP has focused primarily on issues of transport, motoring, and energy. His political movement, Motoristé sobě (Motorists for Themselves), profiles itself as a defender of drivers' rights and a critic of certain European regulations in the field of ecology. The closing of the police investigation thus means he can fully focus on his other political priorities in Brussels and the Czech Republic.
The entire case was followed in the media primarily because it involved a public figure. Now that the investigation is over, the attention of the public and the media is once again turning to the standard political agenda and the legislative steps that MEP Turek plans to promote as part of his mandate.
