Czech Republic maintained a budget surplus with the EU in the first half of the year

In the first half of this year, the Czech Republic once again confirmed its position as a net recipient from the European Union budget. According to the latest data from the Ministry of Finance, the Czech Republic received significantly more funds from EU budgets than it contributed in membership fees.

During the first six months of the year, the Czech Republic contributed a total of 45.8 billion CZK to the common European budget. Conversely, 65.7 billion CZK flowed back into the Czech economy from Brussels. The resulting balance is therefore positive, amounting to 38.2 billion CZK, which represents a net gain for the Czech state budget.

Of the total amount that the Czech Republic received from the EU, the largest share consisted of funds from European structural and investment funds. This money is crucial for financing infrastructure development, supporting science and research, as well as for projects in the areas of the environment and digitalization across the entire country.

Since the Czech Republic's accession to the European Union in 2004, the balance of income and expenditure has been positive in the long term. Since becoming a member, the Czech Republic has received hundreds of billions of crowns more from EU budgets than it has paid into them. These funds play a fundamental role in modernizing Czech society and increasing the standard of living for its citizens.
