The Czech Republic will join a global event this weekend: Let's Clean Up the World, Let's Clean Up Czechia
This weekend, the Czech Republic will once again join the international World Cleanup Day initiative, known locally as "Ukliďme svět, ukliďme Česko" (Let's Clean Up the World, Let's Clean Up Czechia). The goal of this global event is to clear nature, forests, and public spaces of litter that does not belong there. Every year, thousands of people across the country participate in the volunteer cleanup.
This year's edition is unique thanks to a new challenge called #StriveForFive. The organizers have set an ambitious goal: to involve up to five percent of the world's population in cleanup activities. Although this number is very high, the Czech volunteer community has long been among the most active internationally and aims to contribute significantly to this result.
Absolutely anyone can join the event, whether they are individuals, families with children, school groups, or company employees. On the project's website, interested participants can easily find the nearest cleanup location in their area. The organizers will provide the necessary equipment, such as trash bags and work gloves, to ensure the work is safe and efficient.
In addition to the actual collection of litter, this event also has an educational dimension. Participants learn how to properly sort waste and how to prevent its generation in everyday life. The aim is not only to clean specific places but also to change people's long-term approach to the environment and waste management.
