Czech Republic and Slovakia plan joint purchase of new mortars
The Czech Republic and Slovakia have begun negotiations on the joint purchase of military equipment. Minister of Defence Jaromír Zůna announced that both countries are considering the acquisition of modern SAM-120 mortars. These weapons are intended primarily for the needs of the mechanized brigades of both armies.
Cooperation between the neighboring states aims to streamline the procurement process and reduce financial costs. Thanks to a joint approach, both countries can obtain more favorable terms from suppliers and better coordinate the training of soldiers who will operate the new equipment.
SAM-120 mortars represent modern equipment that will significantly increase the firepower of ground units. Their introduction into service is part of a broader effort to modernize armies within Central Europe and strengthen the defense capabilities of both states.
Negotiations on the specific details of the contract will continue in the coming months. If both parties agree on the final terms, it will be another significant step in deepening defense cooperation between Prague and Bratislava.
