Czech Republic faces extreme weather: Meteorologists have issued four warnings
The Czech Hydrometeorological Institute (CHMI) has issued four warnings for the territory of the Czech Republic regarding dangerous meteorological phenomena. Residents should be very cautious in the coming days, as the weather will be highly variable and, in some places, even dangerous across different parts of the country.
The main reason for the alerts is severe thunderstorms, which may be accompanied by torrential rain, hail, and wind gusts. Meteorologists warn that these storms could cause local flooding of basements or underpasses and complications in traffic. People should therefore monitor current radar images and, in the event of a storm, prefer to stay in the safety of their homes.
In addition to the storms, the Czech Republic is also struggling with high temperatures, which will climb well above thirty degrees Celsius in some regions. Hot weather poses a strain, especially for the elderly, children, and people with chronic health issues. Experts recommend maintaining a proper fluid intake and limiting physical activity in direct sunlight during midday hours.
The combination of high temperatures and drought is also closely linked to an increased risk of fires. The CHMI therefore warns against lighting fires in nature and urges maximum caution when handling open flames in forests and fields. Even a small moment of carelessness can cause extensive damage to property and nature under these conditions.
The situation can change rapidly, so it is important to follow official forecasts and recommendations from emergency services. You can find the current alert map for individual regions and districts on the website of the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute.
