Strong storms caused complications in the Czech Republic: fallen trees halted trains
The Czech Republic was hit by a wave of strong storms yesterday evening, which brought complications to transport and power supplies. The adverse weather was felt primarily in western and central Bohemia, where intense rain and strong winds caused a number of problems.
The first difficulties appeared shortly after 8 p.m. The most affected areas were in the Cheb, Plzeň, and Benešov regions. In these localities, firefighters had to respond to dozens of incidents, mainly to clear fallen trees that blocked roads and railway lines.
Due to trees falling on the tracks, train traffic had to be completely halted in several places. Passengers had to prepare for delays or use replacement bus services. Energy workers also worked on repairing damaged power lines, which the storm had severed in many places.
The situation gradually calmed down during the night, but meteorologists continue to monitor the weather development. Residents of the affected areas should remain cautious, as strong storms can arrive very quickly and unexpectedly during the summer months.
