Diplomacy proposal from Moscow and positive news from the German economy
Russian President Vladimir Putin has made a new proposal for possible peace talks. He suggested former German Chancellor Gerhard Schröder as a mediator in the Ukraine war. Putin believes that Schröder could help find a solution to the conflict due to his experience and contacts.
In Berlin, however, the federal government reacted skeptically to this proposal from the Kremlin. German politicians view Schröder critically, as he has maintained close business ties with Russian energy companies and a personal friendship with Putin for many years. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has also already commented on this topic and remains very cautious regarding such proposals.
In addition to international politics, there is also important news from the German economy today. The copper producer Aurubis is looking very optimistically into the future. The company has raised its forecast for the full year, as the last quarter was economically very successful and exceeded experts' expectations.
One reason for Aurubis' success is, among other things, the tight supply of sulfuric acid on the world market. The company sees this as an opportunity to strengthen its market position and achieve higher profits. For investors, the company's stock is therefore particularly interesting at the moment, as business is performing significantly better than originally planned.
There are also positive signals in the maritime industry. The company ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems (TKMS) continues to grow strongly. In the first half of the year, the company was able to significantly increase its revenue and earnings before interest and taxes. The company management also confirmed its financial targets for the current fiscal year.
Particularly impressive is TKMS's current order backlog, which has reached a new record value of 20.6 billion euros. The Kiel-based company is currently focusing on large international projects. In Canada and India, in particular, it is a matter of billion-euro contracts for the construction of new ships and submarines.
In summary, today shows a mixture of difficult diplomatic questions and a strong performance by German industry. While the political situation in Eastern Europe remains complicated, large German companies such as Aurubis and TKMS are looking very confidently into the future despite global challenges.
