Quito faces 39 emergencies due to heavy rains
The city of Quito has recently experienced difficult moments due to heavy rainfall. According to the latest reports from the ECU 911 emergency service, a total of 39 incidents related to flooding have been recorded in different sectors of the Ecuadorian capital.
The intense rains mainly affected the low-lying areas of the city, where accumulated water hindered vehicular traffic and entered several homes. Rescue teams and firefighters worked for several hours to help affected citizens and clean sewers that were blocked by trash and sediment.
Given this situation, the Emergency Operations Committee (COE) immediately activated a coordinated response. Various municipal and security institutions worked together to assess material damage and provide assistance to affected families. Authorities highlighted that the speed of the response was key to avoiding greater tragedies.
Finally, although the situation is currently under control, authorities recommend that the population stay informed through official channels. It is essential to avoid throwing waste into the streets to prevent further flooding, and it is advised to drive with great caution during days of heavy rain in the city.
