Egyptian Drug Authority Strengthens African Partnerships for Local Vaccine Manufacturing
The Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA) participated in the fifth edition of the Africa Health ExCon 2026, which serves as a significant platform for enhancing health cooperation among the continent's nations. During the conference, Dr. Ali Al-Ghamrawy, Chairman of the Authority, signed a number of strategic agreements aimed at developing the health sector in Egypt and Africa.
These partnerships focus primarily on localizing the vaccine industry within Egypt by transferring modern technology from international companies to the local market. This step aims to reduce reliance on importing vaccines from abroad and to provide them at affordable prices for citizens.
These initiatives come within the framework of the Egyptian state's efforts to achieve health security and ensure the sustainable availability of essential medicines and vaccines. These agreements also contribute to supporting Egypt's position as a leading regional hub for pharmaceutical and medical industries on the African continent.
At the conclusion of the events, officials emphasized that these collaborations will open new horizons for scientific research and technical development. It is expected that these efforts will lead to improving the quality of health services provided to citizens and strengthening the capacity of the Egyptian health system to face future health challenges.
