GCC condemns the targeting of Damietta Port and affirms its solidarity with Egypt
The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jasem Al-Budaiwi, strongly condemned the incident of targeting the Egyptian port of Damietta using a drone. This statement came in the context of monitoring the recent security developments in the region, as the Council expressed its categorical rejection of any threats affecting the security and stability of Egyptian territory.
In his official statement, Al-Budaiwi emphasized that the GCC countries stand with Egypt in all measures it takes to protect its national security. He also stressed the importance of maintaining the stability of Egyptian ports, as they are a fundamental pillar of the national economy and international trade movement in the region.
This condemnation comes at a time when the Egyptian authorities are continuing the necessary investigations to determine the circumstances of the incident and secure vital facilities. This step is an expression of the depth of the strategic relations between Egypt and the Gulf states, and the keenness of these countries for joint coordination to face security challenges.
At the conclusion of the statement, the Secretary-General reiterated his full support for the efforts of the Egyptian state in preserving its sovereignty and territorial integrity. Diplomatic and security efforts continue to ensure that such incidents, which could affect the safety of maritime navigation in strategic ports, do not recur.
