Trial operation of new stations in the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system begins
The Egyptian Ministry of Transport has announced the expansion of the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system on the Ring Road, with trial operations of new stations scheduled to begin tomorrow. This step is part of the state's plan to develop the public transportation network and facilitate movement between the governorates of Greater Cairo.
The Ministry explained that the current phase of operation will be experimental and without passengers, in order to test the efficiency of the new stations and ensure the readiness of the dedicated bus lanes. This measure aims to guarantee the highest standards of safety and speed before officially opening the service to the public in the coming period.
The BRT is one of the most important national projects aimed at reducing reliance on private vehicles and curbing traffic congestion on the Ring Road. These buses are characterized by operating in lanes completely isolated from other vehicular traffic, ensuring fast arrival and adherence to set schedules.
Upon completion, this project is expected to contribute to connecting numerous areas, providing a modern and environmentally friendly mode of transport for citizens. Relevant authorities continue to equip the stations and outfit them with smart systems to ensure the provision of a comfortable and safe service for all passengers.
These developments are part of a comprehensive strategy to develop transportation infrastructure in Egypt, as the state seeks to provide advanced transport alternatives that align with significant urban expansion. The Ministry is expected to announce the actual operating dates for passengers once all required technical tests are completed.
