Egypt and Sierra Leone Sign New Agreement to Enhance Cooperation in the Pharmaceutical Sector
The Egyptian Drug Authority signed a new Memorandum of Understanding with the Pharmacy Board of Sierra Leone, aiming to enhance joint cooperation in regulatory and pharmaceutical fields. The signing took place during the activities of the fifth edition of the Africa Health ExCon, which serves as an important platform for exchanging health expertise on the African continent.
This agreement aims to build bridges of cooperation between the two countries in the pharmaceutical industry and the development of its regulating laws. Through this step, Egypt seeks to transfer its extensive expertise in this sector to fellow African nations, contributing to improving the quality of available medicines and ensuring their safety for patients.
In a related context, the Egyptian Drug Authority announced the issuance of a special section of the "Egyptian Drug Registry 2026," specifically concerning medications for the treatment of Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV). This step is part of ongoing efforts to develop the pharmaceutical system in Egypt and provide accurate and comprehensive information about modern treatments available in the market.
These moves are part of Egypt's strategy to strengthen its leading role in the health sector at the regional level. These partnerships are expected to contribute to supporting the national pharmaceutical industry and opening new horizons for export, in addition to enhancing Egypt's position as a regional hub for medical and therapeutic innovation in Africa.
