Ministry of Education refers Qena school principal for investigation over niqab post
The Egyptian Ministry of Education and Technical Education has announced that it is taking legal action against the principal of Nagaa Said Preparatory School, located in the Deshna district of Qena Governorate. This decision follows the circulation of a post on social media attributed to the principal regarding the issue of wearing the niqab within the educational institution.
The Ministry decided to refer the principal to the legal department for investigation into the incident, as part of its commitment to ensuring adherence to ministerial decrees regulating work within schools. The Ministry consistently emphasizes the necessity for all personnel within the educational system to abide by the rules that ensure the educational process proceeds regularly and without any discrimination.
This step comes at a time when the Ministry of Education is emphasizing the importance of maintaining school discipline and avoiding the provocation of controversy over personal or social issues that could affect students' focus in the classroom. The investigations aim to determine the circumstances surrounding the writing of this post and the extent to which it violates the administrative regulations in force in public schools.
For its part, the Qena Governorate Directorate of Education continues to monitor the situation within the school to ensure that the progress of studies is not affected by the investigation proceedings. The Ministry is expected to issue a final statement regarding the results of the investigation with the principal in the coming days, in order to ensure the application of the law and provide an appropriate educational environment for all students.
