Egyptian Drug Authority Reviews Medical Sector Development Plans Through 2030
The activities of the fifth edition of the Africa Health ExCon 2026 featured a comprehensive review of the achievements of Egypt's pharmaceutical sector and the strategic development plans adopted by the state leading up to 2030.
During his speech at the conference, the head of the Egyptian Drug Authority emphasized the importance of strengthening medical cooperation among African nations. He noted that Egypt seeks to become a regional hub for the manufacturing and export of pharmaceuticals and medical supplies on the continent by supporting investments and developing the infrastructure for pharmaceutical industries.
The future plans presented included a focus on digital transformation in pharmaceutical services and streamlining procedures for registering new drugs, in addition to strengthening oversight to ensure the quality and safety of medical products available to citizens in the Egyptian market.
The conference also discussed ways to address global challenges in pharmaceutical supply chains and the importance of localizing the vaccine and raw material industry within Egypt, which contributes to meeting local market needs and reducing reliance on external imports.
These steps are part of Egypt's Vision 2030, which aims to improve the quality of health services provided to citizens and ensure the availability of essential medicines at affordable prices, while enhancing Egypt's position as a leading destination in the field of healthcare at both regional and international levels.
