Egypt Strengthens African Cooperation to Localize Vaccine Manufacturing and Health Security
The Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA) participated in the fifth edition of the Africa Health ExCon 2026, which aims to develop the health sector on the African continent. The authority was represented by Dr. Ali Al-Ghamrawi, Chairman of the EDA, who emphasized the importance of this event in fostering joint cooperation among African nations.
The conference witnessed the signing ceremony of several important strategic partnerships that focus primarily on localizing vaccine manufacturing within Egypt and the African continent. This step comes as part of the Egyptian state's efforts to reduce reliance on imports and provide essential medicines and vaccines to citizens with high quality.
Discussions during the conference also focused on the importance of transferring modern medical technology to African countries. These partnerships aim to build a strong industrial base capable of facing future health challenges, which directly contributes to strengthening national and regional health security.
These initiatives are considered part of Egypt's strategy to become a regional hub for pharmaceutical and vaccine industries. Through these collaborations, Egypt seeks to support its sister African nations in developing their health systems, thereby reinforcing Egypt's position as a leading force in healthcare across the continent.
