President Sisi: Egypt has not used the refugee file for political purposes
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi affirmed that Egypt adopts a consistent humanitarian approach in dealing with the refugee file, stressing that the Egyptian state has never used this file as a means to achieve any political goals or international pressure.
President Sisi's remarks came in the context of reaffirming Egypt's commitment to its responsibilities towards its guests of various nationalities living on its land. He explained that Egypt provides refugees with basic services and integrates them into society, based on its values and moral and humanitarian principles.
The President also stressed the importance of activating the principle of "burden-sharing" between the international community and refugee-hosting countries. He pointed out that dealing with the asylum crisis requires genuine global cooperation, especially in light of the increasing economic challenges facing countries that receive large numbers of displaced persons.
These statements come at a time when Egypt continues to host millions of refugees from neighboring countries, as Cairo always emphasizes the necessity of supporting host countries to ensure the continued provision of necessary care and services for these individuals, while stressing that the stability of the region depends on international solidarity in facing humanitarian crises.
