Egyptian Ministry of Agriculture examines 80,000 head of cattle to ensure livestock safety

The Egyptian Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation has announced the implementation of a large-scale campaign to examine livestock across various governorates, as part of the state's efforts to preserve livestock wealth and ensure the safety of food products for citizens.

The General Organization for Veterinary Services stated that it has examined more than 80,000 head of cattle to detect dangerous diseases such as brucellosis and tuberculosis. This step is part of periodic surveillance programs aimed at protecting animals from epidemics and preventing the transmission of zoonotic diseases to humans.

The examination operations included various types of livestock, with more than 32,000 head of cattle examined, in addition to 3,813 buffaloes. The campaign also included the examination of 7,019 sheep and 3,986 goats, reflecting the comprehensiveness of the veterinary procedures followed.

The Ministry confirms that these examinations are carried out regularly and continuously in all markets and farms to ensure that animals are free from infectious diseases. These measures are part of the state's strategy to support the livestock production sector and provide safe and healthy meat and dairy products to the Egyptian consumer.

The Organization calls on breeders and farmers to cooperate continuously with veterinary teams and facilitate their tasks to ensure the success of these preventive campaigns. The Ministry continues to monitor the health status of livestock throughout the Republic to ensure the stability of food security.
