Trump Announces Efforts to Resolve Renaissance Dam Crisis During Meeting with President Sisi
U.S. President Donald Trump met with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi to discuss a number of important regional issues. During this meeting, Trump emphasized that the U.S. administration is working hard to reach a fair solution to the ongoing Renaissance Dam crisis between Egypt and Ethiopia.
The U.S. President pointed out that the Renaissance Dam issue is one of the priorities concerning the region's stability. Trump also criticized the way Addis Ababa has dealt with Cairo regarding this matter, stressing the need to reach a legal agreement that preserves the rights and interests of all parties involved.
The Renaissance Dam crisis is considered a vital issue for Egyptians, as Egypt relies primarily on the waters of the Nile River to meet its drinking and agricultural needs. The Egyptian government constantly seeks international support to ensure that its annual share of water is not affected by the operation of the Ethiopian dam.
In conclusion, experts believe that U.S. involvement in this crisis may contribute to pushing the stalled negotiations forward. Hope remains for reaching a diplomatic solution that ends the ongoing disputes and achieves development and cooperation among the Nile Basin countries in the near future.
