Egypt and Sierra Leone Strengthen Medical Cooperation during Africa Health ExCon 2026
The activities of the fifth edition of the Africa Health ExCon 2026 witnessed a new step toward strengthening health cooperation between African nations, as the Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA) signed an important memorandum of understanding with the Pharmacy Board of Sierra Leone.
This memorandum aims to consolidate relations between the two sides in regulatory and pharmaceutical fields, as part of Egypt's ongoing efforts to exchange expertise with its brothers on the African continent. This cooperation is part of a broader strategy adopted by the authority to develop the pharmaceutical system and ensure the quality and safety of circulating medicines.
The agreement also focuses on supporting cooperation on issues of common interest, which contributes to achieving greater integration between regulatory and pharmaceutical bodies in both countries. This step is expected to facilitate the registration and circulation of medicines, which serves the interests of patients and supports the health sector in both nations.
This initiative comes at a time when Egypt continues its leading role in supporting the African medical sector through international platforms such as Africa Health ExCon. These steps underscore the importance of collective action among African countries to address health challenges and develop local pharmaceutical industries to serve the people of the continent.
