Egyptian Ministry of Health Denies Presence of "Hanta" Virus in the Country and Reassures Citizens
In recent days, numerous reports have circulated on social media regarding the arrival of the "Hanta" virus in Egypt. These reports have caused significant concern among citizens, prompting the Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population to respond quickly and clarify the facts to the public to prevent the spread of fear.
The official spokesperson for the Ministry of Health confirmed that there are no cases of the "Hanta" virus in Egypt so far. He explained that the Egyptian health system is closely monitoring the epidemiological situation in all governorates and that hospitals are fully equipped to handle any health emergencies, but there is no evidence of the virus's presence within the country.
Hantavirus is a disease typically transmitted from rodents, such as mice, to humans. Experts noted that this virus does not spread easily between humans like the coronavirus; rather, it requires direct contact with the waste of infected animals. Therefore, the risk of it spreading widely among people is considered very low.
For its part, the Ministry of Health advised citizens on the necessity of maintaining cleanliness in homes and workplaces and disposing of waste properly to prevent rodent gatherings. The Ministry also emphasized the importance of regular handwashing and following general health rules to prevent various infectious diseases.
In conclusion, the Egyptian government urged citizens not to believe rumors posted online without verifying their authenticity. It emphasized that the only source of health information should be official statements issued by the Ministry, to ensure accurate news and protect the community from unjustified anxiety.
