New wage increase for state employees in Egypt starting July 2026
The Egyptian government has announced a new decision aimed at improving the standard of living for public sector employees, with a decision to raise the minimum wage starting in July 2026. This step comes as part of the state's ongoing efforts to support citizens and address current economic challenges.
According to the new decision, the minimum wage for employees in the sixth grade will reach 8,000 Egyptian pounds per month. This measure aims to provide a suitable basic income that helps workers meet their daily and essential needs in light of price changes.
The new decisions also include improvements to the salary scale for other job grades, with the minimum wage for higher job grades set to reach 14,500 Egyptian pounds. These increases are part of a comprehensive plan aimed at enhancing financial stability for employees across various ministries and government agencies.
The relevant state authorities will begin taking the necessary measures to implement these increases as soon as the decision enters into force on the specified date. Millions of employees are expected to benefit from this increase, through which the government seeks to improve work efficiency and raise the level of job satisfaction within the state's administrative apparatus.
