Egypt condemns Houthi threats and emphasizes the importance of international maritime security
The Arab Republic of Egypt has strongly condemned the recent threats issued by the Houthi group towards the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. In an official statement, Cairo affirmed its categorical rejection of any attempts to destabilize the region, stressing its full support for the Kingdom in taking the necessary measures to protect its national security.
Egypt also warned of the danger these threats pose to international shipping in the Red Sea. It explained that the continuation of these activities represents a major risk to global supply chains and directly affects the movement of trade passing through the Suez Canal, which is considered a vital artery for both the Egyptian and global economies.
Other Arab countries have joined the Egyptian position, expressing their grave concern over the ongoing escalation in Yemen. These countries emphasized the necessity of adhering to UN Security Council resolutions related to Yemen and stressed the importance of maintaining freedom of maritime navigation and ensuring the safety of international waterways.
In concluding the statement, the parties concerned were called upon to exercise restraint and prioritize dialogue to reach a comprehensive political solution to the Yemeni crisis. Egypt consistently affirms that regional stability requires concerted international efforts to ensure security and peace across all strategic maritime corridors.
